
Applying to renew your Temporary Residence Card
The IPO no longer issues physical Temporary Residence Cards (TRCs). Instead, applicants receive a digital certificate in PDF form, known as an International Protection Applicant Certificate (IPA Cert) .
Please note: There is currently a delay in processing TRC renewals. We are working through applications as quickly as possible.
Who is entitled to an International Protection Applicant Certificate?
Any applicant who is currently in the International Protection process and is complying with the process is entitled to receive an IPA Cert.
How do I apply for a new IPA Certificate?
- To request a new IPA Cert, please fill out the following form IPA Certificate Renewal Form .
- Email [email protected] with your Person ID and the completed form attached.
- Please select yes on the form if have recently changed your address and include your new address including Eircode on the form.
- Please avoid sending multiple requests.
- You will receive an acknowledgement of your request via email.
- Requests will be processed as soon as possible.
- If you have registered for the International Protection Portal, your certificate will be uploaded to your account and you will receive a notification by email.
- You can save your IPA Cert to your mobile or electronic device.
If you have not registered for the International Protection Portal, your certificate will be sent to you via the email address you provided. In exceptional circumstances, we can post your IPA Cert to the address you provided. Please note this on your application if necessary.
Please note: Renewal requests sent to [email protected] will not be processed
If your TRC has been LOST or STOLEN
- Please attend your local Garda Station with proof of identity to report the document lost/stolen.
- You will be provided with a Garda reference number.
- Please provide this number on your email to the TRC inbox, along with your new request for an IPA Certificate.
